Today I felt like putting something together regarding the massive issue facing people today: no work available or not enough. So many friends are having issues getting any kind of work in their fields, or in anything much less. These people are representative of a large and growing population: highly skilled, highly educated, experienced, and nothing available.
It's not as if people are not doing anything to help their cause, it's just there is too many people (kind of like one parking spot available buy 100 people trying to park). So what can one do? Keep hunting all day, go back to school (remember the large debt load you will bring with you), change careers (to what?), leave the country (finally chase that dream of becoming an international soccer star), or do what is modern and now. Create yourself, your brand, your identity.
What are you talking about Omar? Think about it. You go to a local cafe or shop constantly (say it's called Joe's Shop of Stuff & Stuff) regularly and love it. Prices are more expensive than say a name brand store, not totally local, and has odd hours. Why do you go there? For Joe and the staff. Say Joe is the superstar of the place and the reason everything works.
No matter what people do from here on out, the brand of you is going to reign supreme more than any degree, certification, "grass is greener job or city". Take some hints from folks like Gary Vaynerchuk (twitter: @GaryVee) and a very energetic realtor in Canada Ian Watt (ianwatt.ca) as to how this is done.
The Matador Media is a growing company/biz/firm/boutique, though it will nothing without the force behind it. Our clients always remember the name of our company, but the one thing each always mentions is "Omar". Videos and live on the spot streams are in the works!
